Many kennels do not show your through their back door for a reason. Some kennels do not clean out the cages between separate dogs or even days while you are away enjoying sun on your vacation.
Without proper sanitation your pet could get very sick and require extra trips to your local vet for care upon your return.

kennels will only take your pet outside one time daily or will not change the litter box until your pet departs.

Once your pet has arrived to a kennel or shelter many do not eat for days at a time. This is because they do not understand why they have been dropped off or if you are coming back to pick them up.

Many kennels will try to charge and up-sell you for additional services while your pet is boarded but many times the service is not carried out for your pet. These services include extra walks, time outside and potty breaks but unfortunately many 
times your pet will stay inside it’s temporary cage or kennel instead of touching some nice green grass.

While you are away your pet is most comfortable inside their own home because that is where they carry out their normal daily life. Pets especially dogs and cats are used to their own particular feeding schedules which can fall throw the cracks at a large facility with many animals to look after.
